Do you have an eating disorder?

Eating disorders is a generic term for diseases associated with eating. Usually three diagnoses are made, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified), meaning that you fulfill some of the criteria but not all for anorexia or bulimia. All the conditions demand treatment and are conditions of illness with serious medical and psychological effects for the patient.

Here are a few for questions to ask yourself, if you're concerned that you may have or are developing an eating disorder:

• Worried about losing control over how much you eat?
• Have you recently lost more than five kilograms over a period of three months?
• Do you think you are too fat, all the while others often say you are thin?
• Do you induce vomiting after you've eaten?
• Would you say that thoughts about food or eating dominate your life?
